How to Properly Care for Your Shoes
Regular shoe care is the best way to maintain a neat appearance and extend the lifespan of your footwear. Inspired by proven care practices and Sanel’s range of brushes and accessories for shoes, we’ve prepared a simple guide to help you keep your shoes in top condition.
Why Is Shoe Care So Important?
Proper maintenance increases your shoes’ resistance to moisture, rain, and dirt, while also protecting the material from premature wear. Using the right products regularly keeps your footwear looking new for longer and makes future cleaning much easier.
Step‑by‑Step: How to Care for Your Shoes
- Prepare the shoes. Before applying any polish or spray, thoroughly remove sand, dust, and other dirt from the surface. A Sanel microfiber cloth works perfectly for this — it gently cleans the material without scratching the leather.
- Choose the right product. For smooth leather shoes, use a polish or waterproofing spray. For suede, nubuck, or textile materials, choose specialist sprays designed specifically for these surfaces to avoid damaging their structure.
- Apply the care product. Evenly distribute the spray or polish over the entire shoe, paying special attention to seams and folds. Remember — less is more. Polish is best applied using a Sanel shoe care brush. After application, leave the shoes to dry at room temperature. Avoid drying them on a radiator or with a hairdryer.
- Add shine. Once the product has absorbed, polish the shoes with a Sanel Połyskówka shoe care brush. Focus especially on the toe caps and sides of the upper. After just 1–2 minutes, you’ll achieve a smooth, elegant shine.
Final Tips
- Always clean your shoes when they are dry and free of heavy dirt.
- Do not use the same applicator for polishes of different colors.
